Mothers Day

The Los Paseos Association is pleased to honor the mothers in our community on their special day. On Sunday, May 12th, we will be serving champagne and strawberries to all of the mothers who come to the pool. This event will be organized by Jan Strokis, Social Chairman and Sharon LaRosa. There will be a special event for fathers (details to be announced) on Sunday, June 16th. Please join us on those days to celebrate these special people

Pool Opening Weekend

The pool will be open from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 4th and 5th. Hot dogs, chips, and sodas will be available at a cost of $2.00. Plan to come for lunch and help kick off the 2002 swim season at Los Paseos!

Pool Staff

Please join us in welcoming the Pool Staff for the upcoming season. The Lifeguards are Jamie Kind, Sarah LaRosa, Jenn McGeachy, Pat McGeachy, Chris Rule, and Marissa Shotwell-Tabke.
The Gate Attendants include Jordan Aljouny, Lisa Bucek, Michael Larson, Scott Leuke, Meghan Murphy, Jordan Racz, Kevin Rule, and Maggie Taylor.

Swim Lessons

We are pleased to offer three sessions of swim lessons at the pool this summer.
Session 1:
June 17-20 and June 24-27
Session 2:
July 8-11 and July 15-18
Session 3:
July 22-25 and July 29-August 1

The cost is $60.00 per person per session for members, and $80.00 for non members. Sign up at the pool office in the Clubhouse.

LPA Board of Directors Vacancies

Two of the current Los Paseos Association Board members have resigned, and the vacant slots need to be filled. Robin Stanton, Secretary, and her family are moving out of state, and Terri Lavoie, Associate Representative, will not be renewing her Associate Membership due to a job relocation. We thank both Robin and Terri for serving, and wish them well.

It is the responsibility of the Board of Directors to appoint new directors. If you have any interest in serving, contact a current Board Member.

Property Maintenance, Spring Cleaning

If you've been reading the San Jose Mercury News lately, you may have noticed that the City Council is discussing possible minimum mandatory standards for front yard landscaping and maintenance. You may not be aware that the Los Paseos CC&Rs address these issues quite specifically and spell out clearly the standards already required in this community. It would be helpful for all residents to review this document to determine whether or not you are in compliance.

Walk around your property to see if there are weeds, trash or debris that need to be removed. If you need to dispose of any large items, call Recycle-Plus, which has a contract with the City of San Jose. They will pick up any three large items for $19.00. Contact them at 277-2700.

If you have a boat, RV, or trailer parked in your front yard or driveway, please make arrangements to move the item to a side yard where it is screened from view, or to a storage facility.

Remember that garbage carts, recyclables, and yard debris are to be placed by the curb no earlier than the day before your regularly scheduled pick-up.

A Reminder-If You Plan to Remodel or Landscape�

If you're planning to make any major changes to your home or property, you will need to complete a project form for the Architectural Committee of the Los Paseos Homeowners Association. Call Sharon LaRosa at the Clubhouse to get a form. The City of San Jose also requires that you provide this documentation in accordance with the CC&Rs to obtain a building permit.

Clubhouse Rentals

The season for graduation parties, weddings and showers, Mothers Day brunches and Fathers Day barbecues is fast approaching! Do you know that our Los Paseos Clubhouse is available for private party rentals? It's convenient, inexpensive, and well-equipped for your event. Use of the kitchen is included, and there are folding chairs and tables, as well as barbecue facilities for your party. Call for available dates and cost.
