Subj: A BAD contractor
From: [email protected] (Patty Borg)

I wanted to tell people out there NOT to use Peacock Landscaping for lansscaping or cement work. We were initially very impressed with Kevin Peacock, the owner and pretty much a one-man operation. He is knowledgeable and creative-giving us some great ideas. However after paying him MORE than the required downpayment (we blindly trusted him),we did not hear from him and he was unreachable for several days.He did not show up on the day HE scheduled. He eventually did show up with lots of excuses and apologies and did a minimum of work. He then asked for another "draw" promising to return the next day to complete steps 1 and 2 of our contract. Against my better judgement(and now feeling very naive),I gave him more money. We had waited so long and invested time and money in him,I was willing to accept his excuses and apologies. Well the same scenerio happened-no show,no work. To make a long story short we paid out $4200 for about $1000 worth of work.We also found out he lied about a few things. A couple of thoselies are: that he is not lic.,bonded and insured. His lic # has not been active since'82 and was not even in his name or family.Unfortunately,I did my investigation too late. When I finally tract him down and confronted him on this,he said it was a mistake and he would bring us proof/copies of his documents. We never heard from him again. One of the 2 days he DID work, his helper was dressed in a paper jump suit and sandels-the kind people in jail wear when they are out for a days work.We are not pursuing this legally because we do not ever want to see this man again and we are a little frightened of him because we have children and he obviously knows where we live. This was a tough and expensive lesson for us. We hope others can learn from our mistakes.
