Subj: San Anselmo/Blossom Valley School Closures
From: [email protected] (September Radecki)

Hi,

On Saturday, I received a letter that Oak Grove School District is planning to close San Anselmo and Blossom Valley. I am very upset, even though I had a hunch this was coming. I feel that Santa Teresa is already impacted and very crowded, with huge classes, and I don't want my child going there. I've heard similar things about Baldwin. There are going to be "Community Information meetings" but I think its a done deal based on the detail in the letter.

I have to say that I thought it was a bit "low" to send out the letter on Friday afternoon, so that families would receive it on Saturday!

I also have to share that I have heard several rumors that Oak Grove wanted to close schools to bring in revenue. The Oak Grove district office property is a very high priced piece of land, and would bring in a nice number. The rumor I heard was that Oak Grove wants to move the district into one of the schools being closed, and sell that property. Does that seem wrong to anyone but me?

What do we do? Is there any recourse to closing the schools? My son is going to be in 5th grade next year, and with the new plan, I will be driving him to and from either school, as they are both too far for him to walk to. He's going to be so disappointed to lose his school, and his independence! Not to mention the fact that half his friends will be at Baldwin and half of them at Santa Teresa from the looks of things!

Thanks for listening,

September Radecki
