Subj: Whole House Fan From: [email protected] (Bruce B) Hi, When I lived in Sacramento for a short time "thank god :)" I remember we had a whole house fan. In my efforts to cost effectively cool my home in this hotter than hot region of San Jose I want to have one installed. Anyone ever have this done? I am having a hard time finding places in this area that do this "on the net anyway" So a recommendation and even a general expected price would be most helpful not only to me but all of us I think. For those that do not know what a whole house fan is: It is a large fan mounted in the attic that sucks air from the house and blows it into the attic forcing the hot air out of the attic and drawing cooler air in from the windows "you have to open them" :) The reason our houses are so HOT at night is because of all the stored heat in the attic as well as the lack of air movement form the out side. I'm also wondering if anyone can enlighten me on how much savings they notice after replacing old A/C units with new energy star ones???? This summer is going to SUCK! |
