Subj: Cisco et al in Coyote Valley From: [email protected] (Marla Olszewski) I'm concerned about the overall increase in air pollution that will result from new development in Coyote Valley--not just Cisco and Calpine. If Calpine has to prove that there will be a decrease in air pollution because of their development, shouldn't the rest of the developers too? This region is choking on its own exhaust! I think city and state officials should require a commensurate decrease in valley air pollution to balance what they're adding by having employees and customers drive to their buildings. The state operates a program for buying older vehicles--which create a LOT of pollution-- to get them off our roadways. Every business that develops in Coyote Valley could be required to buy old cars, OR maybe they could be required to dedicate a certain percentage of their budget to the State's program, OR maybe there's another option. I think this matter needs to be addressed beyond Calpine. All that new traffic in our area will surely lower our already poor air quality. |
