Subj: cisco From: [email protected] (Tim Alton) Given that this area of San Jose is designated for campus industrial, with a band further south for commercial and then housing, with a strip of open space before Morgan Hill, Cisco is probably a good neighbor to have. This will not be a manufacturing facility, just a lot of people in cubes. Including the CEO, as we saw on 20/20. But I can't be the only one who thinks it is strange that CISCO, of all companies, providers of the backbone of the internet, feels the need to concentrate 20,000 people into 120 ft high buildings in the corner of a field! Does their stuff not work? I think I'll apply for a job there anyway, move to Hollister because of the Power Plant at Met calf, and in the mornings drive to Gilroy and get the train into work. Seriously though, having the Caltrain drop you off at the door step of of your work place is a big deal. People who live outside of San Jose will be able to drive to their local train station in Livermore or Stockton or Gilroy and grab the train to work. Just like a real "big city" commute. One of the painful things about the light rail and any mass transportation in this area is the distance from the bus stop to the work place. Of course if the power plant doesn't go in I can walk to work, down the
Fisher Creek trail. |
