While I have no official information on this shooting, I am uncomfortable with the tenor of the request for information. Obviously Mr. Foley does not have much knowledge regarding police, police procedures and firearms. For instance, he claimed to have heard 8 shoots from a single police revolver. To my knowledge, police revolvers in of themselves do not have a specific sound, so it would be almost impossible to determine just by the sound of a firearm who was using the firearm. I am also not aware of any revolver that holds eight rounds, nor am I aware any revolver that uses an ammunition clip. Revolvers hold 6 rounds in a revolving (hence the term "revolver") chamber. To have 8 rounds available in a hand-gun, without reloading, would require some sort of semi-automatic, such as a Glock or Browning.

As to the circumstances surrounding the shooting, I think Mr. Foley should take his concerns and questions straight to the police. It would be prudent to remember that whatever the specific details, the life of a child appeared to be at immediate risk. While the result was very tragic, think how much more tragic it would have been if the child had become a victim.

I would urge anyone who has any concerns regarding this terrible incident to contact the police department. If you are still not satisfied, you can also contact the District Attorney's Office. There is also an independent city office for reviewing citizen complaints about the police department. Despite all of the screaming and hollering that quite often occurs after a police shooting, when all the evidence and general information regarding the incident is reviewed, along with the pertinent laws, a very large majority of those shooting turn out to justifiable. Before any conclusion is made, get the facts.
