Subj: Lucky's Survey I believe that it is a big error to allow any community asset to become an eyesore. The Plaza de Santa Teresa has been going downhill for a good 10 years now. It's time to step up and make it and attractive centre for the community. However, at the same time let us not attempt to squeeze out long time residents in the area simply because they are not as fortunate financially as some of the rest of us. The price of housing in this valley is an absolute scandal. Those of us opposed to growth need to take the responsibilty for helping to make this area unaffordable to the average worker. Don't let selfishness dash the hopes and dreams of a neighbor who is struggling to make it. Some of the comments seen here about the 98cent Store and other not so "upscale" businesses were the epitome of "mean spiritedness". Paul Elliot |
