Subj: Impressions after first meeting with Charlotte Powers From: [email protected] (Walter Alvey) Until this power plant issue came up, I had never been involved in nor even followed local politics. Last Wednesday's meeting at the Los Paseos clubhouse was the first time I had ever met Charlotte Powers. I found that when discussing a new sign, parks, restaurants, gas stations, fire stations, and even the proposed high school for Morgan Hill, she was very pleasant and personable. She seemed interested in what we had to say and very clear about her own position. I sensed, however, a marked change in her demeanor when the power plant issue came up. As I recall, it was the only issue (or at least one of the few) that was brought up by us and not by her. There were moments when I felt that she didn't want to even talk about it. I do not have enough information to speculate as to what her position will be. The Wednesday night meeting, however, did not give me a warm feeling that she will come out in opposition to the plant. I am curious what others' impressions were. -- |
