Subj: Positions of candidates for District 2 council seat? From: [email protected] (Walter Alvey) I found a recent SJ Mercury article that has three paragraphs about the effect of the power plant debate on local politics. I wish that I could quote all the paragraphs but I suspect that would violate copyright rules. The article says that so far the candidates for the District 2 City Council seat are Forrest Williams and Maria Ferrer and that Kathy Chavez Napoli may join later. It goes on to say, "The take in local political circles is that Williams is the most likely to be sympathetic to the proposal, that Ferrer is still ambivalent and that Napoli could be an effective opponent." The article is titled "A Question of Values: Political Real Estate" and dated Sunday, July 25, 1999. It can be downloaded from the Mercury News Archive at http://www.mercurycenter.com/resources/search/#newslibrary. The cost is $1.95. Walter A. |
