Subj: Calpine power plant feedback From: [email protected] I am really against the power plant moving into my neighborhood. I remember filling out numerous surveys about the quality of water and the number of birth defects or miscarriages that I may have experienced because of the Fairchild building. I was fortunate to have had healthy children and no miscarriages. Others that I know of were not so fortunate. I fear more illness coming to people in our neighborhoods because of the pollution that this power plant WILL emit. The "experts" even say that this plant will be a big polluter. Why even consider it, then? Are we inviting cancer, in its many forms, into our neighborhood? I'm not! My suggestion is since there are other power plants that are more polluting than this one will be, why not renovate those power plants and make them cleaner and more efficient. These power plants are already established. Let's put the money Calpine wants to spend on building a new power plant to work on improving the existing power plants. This seems like common sense to me. Cammi Bowen |
