Subj: Calpine Power Plant From: [email protected] I have owned a home in Las Paseos since 1978..I experienced the "Fairchild" disaster and I also suffered with cancer in 1989..experienced (1) year of cancer treatment. This proposed 600-megawatt plant may be a good project, if it was planned for another location. This location will have an effect on our neighborhoods. The 186 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx) per year that the proposed plant would emit into the air of our neighborhood is unacceptalbe for a residential area. The proposed power plant should be built in an industrial area, not near homes or the Coyote Valley campus research-office area. A recent disaaster reminds us why industrial use zones hould not be located near residential areas. The Gannon Power Plant in Tampa, Florida exploded April 8th killing 2 and injuring 49. I am against this proposal, as this power plant will have an impact on our community environmentally. Jean Phillips |
