Subj: Speeders and School Dropoffs

Residents, commuters, and visitors to the Rancho Santa Teresa neighborhood,

Do you realize that you are speeding through our neighborhood? The posted speed limit is 25 mph around San Anselmo Elementary and generally in all residential areas. You all need to SLOW down. School has started and yet most of you still drive down San Anselmo Way and San Ignacio Ave. as if it was Santa Teresa Blvd. It does not matter whether you are late dropping off your kids at school or you are late for work. We have a lot of kids walking, playing, and hanging around the area. I notice a lot of you throughout the day speeding through my neighborhood. I wish the SJPD would post an officer out there to give tickets all day long.

You may say that you are not speeding, but I hear you flying down my street. I hear and see you speeding off from the crosswalk. Sometimes you miss our stop signs in our intersection. What about your kids? I have seen a lot of driving-age kids speeding up and down my street. I am scared for the kids that live across from me. They like to play in their front yard. I would hate to see anything happen to them because of a speeding car. My 2-year old niece is planning to move in with me. I am afraid of letting her play in the front yard if this speeding problem doesn't curb itself.

This message also goes out to those parents who drop off kids at Bernal Junior High School and San Anselmo Elementary. Do NOT speed, make illegal u-turns, shoot out from driveways without looking, double-park in the street, and block traffic.

If this problem continues, I will be installing a camera to record license plates of cars of speeders and bad drivers coming in and out of the neighborhood. Maybe the southsanjose.com will let me start posting speed violators in their Web site. Hopefully, we do not have to resort to that.

Concerned Resident
