My name is Jesus Nava and I am the newest Deputy City Manager for the City of San Jose. I simply want to update our southside residents about the city's follow-up with the promoters of the Danskin event.

Ms. Irene Ray, Special Events Coordinator, met with the Danskin promoters and informed them that any future events would have to be planned and conducted in a manner that did not adversely impact the community. The promoters understand that the bicycle portion of the race created a terrible situation for our southside residents and that the city will not allow it to reoccur.

We apologize to everyone who was affected by the race and pledge to be more sensitive to the needs of our residents.
