Subj: Calpine's new Ken Abreu Remember Ken Abrue? Calpine's project manager for the Metcalf Energy Center? Mr. Abrue has been recently working on plans for a liquefied natural gas terminal in Humboldt Bay. Today Calpine announced they were stopping the project. In a letter to the Eureka Mayor and City Council, Mr. Abreu wrote: "...It is the policy of Calpine not to build projects in areas where there is insufficient community support. Based upon feedback received from the local community and public officials we feel this decision is best for all parties..." What about the 11-0 vote by the San Jose city council against changing the general plan in Coyote Valley for the Metcalf? Once again I find it hard to believe Mr. Abrue. Mr. Abrue's letter can be found at http://samoalng.com/Letter+to+the+Community.html |
